A smaller game with a clear job

In Convoy Duty I wanted to make a compact game around one clear responsibility: keep the merchant ships together, find the U-boats before they find the convoy, and bring as much cargo home as you can.

It is more arcade game than full naval simulation. You range ahead to hunt, fall back to screen the convoy, manage limited weapons and decide how much danger a faster route is worth.

Why Steam

Convoy Duty started life as a free browser game, and honestly I expected it to stay that way. But it has kept growing, and it now feels like a game that deserves a proper home rather than a side project I quietly leave on the shelf. So the plan has changed: Convoy Duty is getting a full release on Steam.

The browser version is not going anywhere. It becomes the free preview: a real slice of the game you can try in seconds, no account or download required. If it clicks for you, the Steam version is where the full experience will land.

What is in preview v0.3

Version 0.3 of the preview is playable in your browser now, with keyboard, mouse and touch controls.

  • Dynamic weather, night actions and the mid-Atlantic air gap.
  • U-boats that stalk, observe, attack and break contact at different depths.
  • Ship classes, refits, crew veterancy and a persistent naval career.
  • Historical convoy briefings, archival photographs and an in-game codex.

What happens next

I will share the Steam page as soon as it is ready. Until then the preview is the best way to play, and telling me what is and is not working genuinely shapes where the full game goes. The Discord is the place for that.
