A larger direction for the campaign

I have updated the Field of Command roadmap around a British-led career that begins with the BEF in France and, over time, grows across the War in the West.

The idea is that promotion should widen the battle around you. Platoon and company decisions remain important as responsibility grows to larger formations, a persistent Order of Battle and a longer campaign. It is an ambitious direction, and there is a great deal still to build.

The road from the Dyle to Germany

The roadmap is split into six broad campaign stages. Each is intended to introduce different forces, terrain and command problems.

  • The BEF in France: the Phoney War, the Dyle Line and the retreat to Dunkirk.
  • The Desert War: armour, supply, minefields and long sightlines.
  • Torch and Tunisia: an American career joins the Allied campaign.
  • Italy: Sicily, Salerno, Cassino, Anzio and the long climb north.
  • Normandy and liberation: the landings, bocage and breakout.
  • Into Germany: Market Garden, the Bulge and the Rhine.

Where the preview stands

Version 0.2.2 is what you can play today. It brings more of the developing France campaign together with campaign objectives, a cleaner command screen, wider language support, performance work and continuing skirmish polish.

The roadmap is the direction of travel, not a claim that every stage is already built. The browser preview is the honest picture of where the game stands now, and the easiest way to tell me what is and is not working.
